Auto-Ethnography: Shaving #2.

The second time I recorded the experience of shaving my legs. I tried to focus more on taste and smell but I noticed things I had not noticed in my first experience.

The razor is blue. There are small clear droplets of water on it and two pools of water under it. The water tastes soapy and unclear. It is cool on my tongue. The razor is blades down. I pick it up and it is warm because of the steam. The water drips off but I don't feel it. It has grooves along the top of the razor they are thin and long and run the length of the handle. They feel wavy and bumpy yet smooth, like braille. On the bottom there are more grooves in a square shape. They form indents and suck your finger in. The moisturizing bar has fallen off leaving three green sponge like dots. They have uneven edges but feel springy when I touch them. The soap is warm and slimy and mushy. I can squeeze my hand to make imprints in the soap. My leg feels prickly like lightly running your hand over the top of a cactus or a toothbrush. I rub the soap down my leg and back up. I do this 6 or 7 times. There is a layer of white on my leg. I run the razor from the bottom of the leg up, it cuts a line approximately 3cm wide through the white layer. It doesn't feel sharp on my leg but I can feel the plastic scraping it slightly. There is pressure. I repeat this 19 times on both left and right legs. I taste steam. It is warm and fills my mouth. I smell a small amount of vanilla and a hot water smell. It is slightly arresting like when you put your nose directly over a boiled jug. It assaults the nostrils. It makes them feel full and large. I hear a slapping noise, it sounds repetitive and watery. The soap tastes sour and slightly burns my mouth. I fill my mouth with hot water which adds a metal tastes and makes it frothy.
