We had a meeting in the break where we discussed our goals and formed a plan of action. We decided that Lucas would primarily be in charge of the game engine and scripting, Jenny would primarily be in charge of art design and character design and I would primarily be responsible for animating the characters and pieces we needed for the game. However we made sure that we did not box ourselves into these roles and we will be helping each other out, personally I would like to do a bit of coding since I did not do the coding paper in trimester 1. It would be good experience.
Our group decided that we would aim for doing one level really well. If we had enough time we would also do a second and then if possible a third. The first level is jungle themed so we are going to have endangered animals who primarily reside in jungle environments. We did some research and found that Pandas, Tigers and Gorillas met all these requirements but they were also easily recognizable for what they were.
We also discussed having three health gems, instead of a health bar. If you get shot by the poacher then you would loose a health gem. But you could make it up by getting first aid kits as you rescued animals. Another thing we decided to do was to have the animals be either caught in a bear trap or wearing collars with chains on them. This was to convey that they are trapped by the poacher and give a reason as to why you have to rescue them. It also gives a reason as to why the poacher is shooting the player.
