Planning

My game was chosen to be developed further into a proper working game in project 3. The game was the endangered animals game, or animal rescue as a working title which I developed in project 2. We chose groups of three to work on the game and I chose to work with Jenny and Lucas. We decided upon roles where Jenny would be our art designer and design all the characters and visuals for the game according to the art style which, at Jennys suggestion was a patch work style which we liked for the arts and crafts motif it evoked. I was our groups animator and would animate all the graphics for the game, as well as help Jenny when she needed it with the visuals. It was also decided I would find sounds for the game. Lucas would be our programmer and would code the game in stencyl, though he looked at other engines like citrus.

After meeting with my game design team in the holidays, I wrote down a list of what I though needed to be done in terms of my roles. I needed to animate the graphics and I wrote a list of things I thought needed to be made in terms of graphics. This was just so I could see clearly what needed to be made. I also made a list of the textures that we would need.

After we started working on the game I realised that I didn't have anything to animate for some time. Because of this I decided I would develop the games background. I consulted with the group and wrote down in a quick brainstorm what the background needed. I then looked at cartoon jungles in google images to get an overview of what cartoon backgrounds looked like and from here began sketching backgrounds. I did two and chose the simpler one.

My team mates liked the simpler one also so I started to build it in photoshop and illustrator.
